To All the TeamUSA Fans,
I appreciate everyone who has followed @TeamUSATracker over the course of the Olympics. The twitter account went quickly from 400 to 4,000 people over the course of 2 weeks and I hope this is just the beginning of the growth as I believe there are many passionate fans of TeamUSA across America.
I started this Twitter Handle after I went to the 2018 Winter Olympics and saw Team USA win the Gold Medal in Women’s Hockey and Team USA win their historic first Gold Medal in Men’s Curling. While watching the Men’s Curling Gold Medal Game, there were a lot of Team USA fans in the stands who were avid curling fans and had been to World Championships and National Championships and explained how historic of a win Team Shuster because of results in these events as well. I realized that Americans like me want to care about the Olympics and the four years building up to it like World Cup Qualification not just every two years.
I thought about it and I realized every day (365 days/24 hours/7 days a week) there is likely an American Athlete competing somewhere in the world in an athletic event. On any given Saturday; You have Rugby in Hong Kong, Fencing in Cairo, Badminton in Switzerland, Volleyball in Italy, Tennis in Paris, Archery in South Dakota, Sport Climbing in Utah. You can go around the world at any time and on any day and find an infinite amount of athletes competing for Team USA as they aim to make one of the 600 spots on TEAMUSA one day. As I have said before @TeamUSATracker main goal is to follow Team USA athletes around the world and root for them win or lose.
Now that the Olympics are over, I am planning on what is next for @TeamUSATracker. This is not my day job right now but I am planning to keep this going for Beijing which are 182 Days away. I will be sharing a Google Doc on Beijing (with info on who has qualified for Team USA for Beijing 2022) and also picking up on a newsletter that I hope to be weekly in which I focus on what to watch (Team USA events ) and analysis (see my Medal Count thread today as an example) in addition to using the Twitter to post real time results of Team USA in action. If you have any thoughts or comments share them 247teamusa@gmail.com
I am truly humbled at all the new followers and I hoped you have enjoyed my insight into Team USA and the Olympics. Feel free to share this link with your families and friends. Lets Go Team USA!!!!
